Alex advises and represents workers’ compensation and general insurers and large corporate self-insurers in personal injury liability litigation and work injury claims. He heads SRB Legal’s workers’ compensation teams for several national insurers. Alex also advises and acts in life claims for some of Australia’s largest insurers and corporate self-insurers.
Alex has worked exclusively in insurance litigation since 1990. Over that time, he has managed thousands of claims and achieved an exceptional track record of effective negotiation, early negotiated outcomes where appropriate and robust litigation. He has a thorough understanding of principles involved in the assessment of workers’ compensation entitlements and common law damages. This enables him to make accurate and timely assessments. Alex carefully considers recovery prospects for each matter, providing commercial and practical advice in this regard. In addition to these areas, Alex has also developed extensive skills in fraud and investigation matters, with a particular focus on work and personal injury claims. Alex works shoulder to shoulder with his insurer clients, respecting and valuing their industry and commercial experience. He has gained valuable insights into the mutual benefits which flow from such a complementary working relationship. He is convinced that a team-based approach between lawyer and insurer client will achieve the most favourable results. Alex was admitted to practice in 1988 and joined SRB Legal in 1996.
